James's coven was a group of three nomadic vampires: James with the power of tracking sense; Victoria with the power of enhanced self-preservation; and Laurent.
This coven was founded by James, who loved to hunt, and sought out the company of other vampires in order to use their help in his ongoing tracking games. The coven was nomadic and wandered the northern United States. This coven broke apart with James' death, and Laurent and Victoria were eventually killed by the Uley pack and the Cullen family, respectively. However, in Long Live Life, James and Victoria were brought back by Skai who is use the sword called Il Mietitore Capacità and controlled them as metal vampires before the Cullens defeated him and the two returned to the dead.
Because they never made the attempt to blend in with humans, they did not see the need to pay close attention to personal appearance; they looked feral to other vampires and to humans.

Long Live Life
Years after the Cullens became the new Volturi, James returned and joined a group of vampires, in metal form, to ambushed the Cullens. Commissioner Asher Pennington reported to the Cullens about the metal vampires spotted in the place where they fought Victoria and the newborn army meaning she was brought back to life as well.
It was revealed that they were under the control by a half-human half-vampire hybrid named Skai who was planning to get revenge on Lucien by killing his mate Luna using the sword IL Mietitore Capacità where it controls gifted vampires dead and alive. However, Skai lost the battle and the sword was destroyed bringing James and Victoria back to where they were to the dead.
James: The leader of the coven with tracking sense: with it, he could track and predict the most likely moves of his prey, though it could take some time. He was an excellent tracker, and was turned by a French vampire. He was killed by the members of the Cullen family when targeting Bella Swan.
Victoria: James's mate with the power of enhanced self-preservation, which allowed her to escape any sort of danger. She was created by her sister, Anne, and was part of a coven that was ultimately destroyed by the Volturi; she later met James and became his mate. After his death at the hands of the Cullens, she formed an army of newborns in attempt to destroy her murderers: the plan failed severely and Victoria met her own doom.
Laurent
Laurent: Changed by Russian ambassador Boris, then left on his own to find more powerful company. Being the most outspoken when they met, Bella initially misthought him as the leader of the coven. While seeking vampires with powerful and beneficial skills, Laurent found what he was looking for in James and joined the coven, but when James angered the Cullens, he left the coven, joining the Denalis. Eventually, Victoria asked him for a favor that led him to his doom.
A number of recruits before Laurent intrigued them enough to join the coven. The idea to recruit other vampires was Victoria's idea to help increase their winning chances at James's non-stop tracking games.
