Have A Purpose is the eighth and final story of the After Breaking Dawn Saga by FireRed21. It serves as part two of Value In Beliefs. The story follows with two spin off stories A Christmas Surprise and Long Live Life.
Plot summary
The story takes place a few months later from the previous story where Jalen Long marries Tiffany Stewart and becoming Lucina Stewart's stepfather. While Jalen and Tiffany were on their way home from their honeymoon, the Cullens hear about Jalen's crime of attempting rape on his foster sister Elena Margaret and beating his foster father for silence (his foster father is the one attempting rape and Jalen beats him to save her) is still big news but they will find a way to clear his name. That's when Jalen and Tiffany arrived home with Tiffany chasing after Alice Cullen for sneaking lingerie in her luggage after getting Lucas Stone's aura to protect herself from Alice's gift.
The Cullens attend North Central High School to accompany Lucina on her first day while Jalen completes his education. There, Lucina has made some friends while Jalen meets Mrs. Pennington and Bryce Summers, who falls for Lucina and vice versa for her whle also meeting The Big Five; Orion Stern, Mitch Nystrom, Ariel Watson, Falkner Byron and Sierra Wheeler. The five of them along with most students mistreat others below them to how they pleased led by the prinicpal Mr. Bitters. Meanwhile, Jalen is curious about Mrs. Pennington's interest in Jalen.
On Jalen's second day of school, he gets into a fight with Orion who also falls for Lucina, is harassing her. Jalen avoids Orion's attacks causing him to fall down making Mr. Bitters send Jalen to his Orion siding with Orion as favoritism. Mr. Bitters was about to punish Jalen but Mrs. Pennington saves him which causes Jalen to be more curious about why she cares about him. Back at their cottage, Tiffany asks Jalen why he returned to school knowing how people mistreat others. Jalen explains how after he joined their family, he comes to Carlisle Cullen for advice on starting over his new life as a vampire encouraging Jalen to attend school to find his purpose in life.
The next day of school, Bryce ask Lucina out to lunch much to Jalen's annoyance even though he allows it. Bryce and Lucina had a nice time together but the news made Tiffany forbid Lucina from seeing Bryce only because she didn't want Lucina to grow up so fast. Tiffany takes back what she said and allows Lucina to continue seeing Bryce. The Cullens then have a guest named Jemma. What Jemma is questions the Cullens seeing that Jemma has no scent and is immune to their gifts. None of the less, they allowed Jemma to stay at their place seeing that she is alone and scared.
Bryce then ask Lucina out on a date after asking Jalen for permission. Bryce takes Lucina to Sky City restaurant and were having a great time until they were rudely interrupted by Orion and his friends. They were about to make Bryce look bad when Jacob Black and Renesmee Cullen came when they were told by Alice and The Big Five were banned from the restaurant. After their date, Bryce confessed his feelings to Lucina as she returns them and the two shared a kiss. When Bryce leaves, Lucina and the Cullens find out that Jemma disappeared and are unavailable to find her. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen found a half human half vampire hybrid scent that came the same time Jemma left the Cullens. More questions arises as Alice saw a vision being decided of the Volturi's future.
Bryce and Lucina's relationship causes jealousy to Orion. He tries to break them up by beating Bryce up and locking him in the janitor's closet to make Lucina believe he stood her up only for Bryce to have been found by Alice and Emmett Cullen. Bryce ends up in the hospital. Lucina and Jalen sees him where Bryce's foster parents Austin and Ellie Gold got to meet Lucina and invited her to their place for dinner after Bryce was discharged. After Lucina returns home, Renesmee gave the news that she and Jacob are engaged. The Cullens then had a visit from Raymundo who was curious about their lifestyle. After Raymundo left, Edward tells his family that Raymundo was collecting information about the Cullens. Alice tells them that she still doesn't know what will happen to the Volturi and who's behind but she does announced that Jalen's old coven moved in with the Denalis due to Mordecai Coleman's relationship with Tanya.
On Christmas Eve, the Cullens invited Bryce and his family to celebrate the holidays when Bryce had a asthma attack that nearly killed him until Jalen changed him into a vampire thus the Cullens told Bryce what they are as his and Lucina's relationship got stronger.
On Lucina's sixth/sixteenth birthday, the Cullens hear that Jemma and Raymundo are in Forks, together. The Cullens were able to get information; Raymundo was the one that was there the night Jemma left the Cullens and later came to them using his gift to split into two and Jemma is a half human half vampire hybrid with no scent and can't be tracked and is the daughter of Gianna and Demetri.
Meanwhile, Orion has suspicions about the Cullens since his high school life has taken a downfall and after hearing from Falkner on how the Cullens graduated numerous time and about Jalen's crime. Orion uses this information as blackmail to Jalen telling him to break up Bryce and Lucina so that he may ask her out to the prom or else he'll expose the Cullen's information to the public. Knowing that the Cullens will blame him for it plus Orion forces him not to tell them, Jalen tries to get rid of the files Orion has of them himself by Orion saw it coming giving Jalen no choice but to breakup Bryce and Lucina's relationship. Jalen did so pretending to be someone on the phone to blackmail Bryce to break up Lucina which he did so breaking not only Lucina's heart but Bryce's as well and Orion asks Lucina out to prom. Although he says to be keeping his word to Jalen on their deal, Orion is actually planning to expose the Cullens at prom and have them arrested since they know about Jalen's crime and kept it quiet, after he has his prom post mating activity with her.
On prom night, the Cullens attend the event to keep an eye on Orion who is with Lucina as his date. After hearing how Bryce would rather die from the Volturi than lose Lucina as he claims Jalen as his best friend, Jalen stops Orion from attempting to kiss Lucina and brings her to Bryce confessing what he did and Bryce and Lucina got back together after forgiving him. Because of it, Orion summons the police force to arrest the Cullens even if Jalen hadn't intervene. The Cullens were about to be arrested when Mrs. Pennington steps in with her husband Asher Pennington, the commissioner of the police department, who stops the force from arresting the Cullens as Mrs. Pennington tells everyone that Jalen is innocent of the crime he was framed for and revealed herself to be Jalen's foster sister Elena. To Jalen's surprise, everyone praised Jalen of his actions and Orion was degraded of his actions and he and Mr. Bitters were dismissed from prom when the superintendent Ted Turner came when he was told of the situation and Mr. Bitters was in huge trouble when Ted received reports of students being mistreated and Mr. Bitters failed to do a thing all of which was caused by the Cullens when they found out about Jalen's actions and Orion's plans. Orion and The Big Five were expelled after reports of their actions were found and Mr. Bitters was fired for favoritism and influencing students mistreat other students to how they pleased and the school has done a complete change as Elena is named the principal of the school.
After the prom night, the Cullens receive a letter from Marcus who explains that the Volturi has been defeated and Aro, Caius, Jane, Alec, Felix and many others are killed by the Romanian coven (Demetri reunites with Jemma) with help by Jemma and Raymundo using the Cullen's help. Marcus offers the Cullens positions to join them and the Cullens agreed that they will be the new Volturi while they still live with humans as Marcus and the wives run things in Italy still.
Afterwards, most of the Cullens along with Jalen and Bryce graduated high school. They celebrate at the Cullen's house where Renesmee announced that she and Jacob are having a baby. The story ends with Elena taking a picture of the Cullens.
There are outtakes at the end that retells the events of the story in Elena's perspective of how she tries to reunite with Jalen. Afterwards, there are outtakes of Renesmee and Jacob's relationship throughout the story and becoming parents to Evan and Sarah Black.
