Aro was one of the three leaders of the Volturi—the dominant coven of the vampire world. He is widely accepted as the overall leader of the Volturi, and shows the gift of tactile telepathy, which gives him the ability to read someone's thoughts and memories with a single touch. He was the husband of Sulpicia and the older brother of Didyme. He uses Chelsea to change the loyalties of the vampires whom he wants to join the Volturi and secure his power status.
Aro was executed by the Romanian coven for the way he runs the coven and for when Marcus found out the truth about his wife. With that, Carlisle Cullen became the leader of the Volturi while Marcus and the wives run the coven in Italy still.
He is portrayed by Michael Sheen.

Forever Together
Aro arriving at Lacey.
Although he never appeared in Forever Together he was involved in the story. Eight years after the confrontation between them and the Cullens, Aro still plans on acquiring their powers, mainly Renesmee. He soon then hears about a group of gifted human siblings with unique abilities that catches his interest. Seeing how perfect they are to his plans, Aro, along with Marcus and Caius travel to Lacey, Washington to recruit these humans. On the way, he and the others got thirsty and went to a nearest available home where they first attacked Jessica and Lilly Stone. They were confronted by Kendall Stone, the chief of police, when he heard his family’s cries allowing Aro to attack him. Kendall tries to shoot them only to have Aro avoid it and cause a fire and Aro, Marcus and Caius flee leaving the Stone family to die from the fire. Aro and the others later found May, Niall and Olivia offering positions to join their coven which they accept and Aro turned them into vampires enhancing their abilities.

After two months of training his new members, Aro commences his plan to acquire the Cullens power starting with Renesmee. He sends May and Niall, along with a few guards, to first kidnap Renesmee. They successfully did so and brought Renesmee back to Italy while they destroy the Cullens. Aro meets with Renesmee offering her to join him which she refuses. Knowing Renesmee was gonna act this way, Aro orders Olivia to hypnotize her into making Renesmee into joining his coven. After giving Renesmee her new outfit and believing that his guards has completed the job of eliminating the Cullens. However, to his shock, the Cullens and Jacob arrived joined by their own new member Lucas Stone who is the reason why the Cullens survived the assault due to his gift as well hearing that they have also destroyed Niall, May and the rest of the guards.
The Cullens demanded Aro to give Renesmee back but Aro lies and states that Renesmee wanted to join their coven avoiding the lie caused by Olivia to block out Edward’s mind reading. As proof to convince the Cullens, Aro brings out Renesmee wearing their cloaks as she “admits” to wanting to join their coven. Pleased to see that he’s winning the battle, Aro offers the Cullens to join him if they want to be with Renesmee. Lucas was the first one to step forward making Aro delighted to have new member. He is interested to know about Lucas and offers to take his hand to read his mind. However, Lucas tricks Aro by slapping his arm hard causing Aro to spin and shoot an aura sphere at Olivia sending her flying where she hit a wall and a torch fell on her where she vanished in the ash causing Renesmee to be set free from Olivia’s hypnotism. Edward rushes in and brought Renesmee back to his family as Aro is shocked at how he was deceived and for losing Olivia.
Seeing how the Cullens have successfully brought Renesmee back to them, Aro states that since he can’t have her, then neither can they and ordered his guards to destroy the Cullens. However, the Cullens fought back despite the numbers until Aro has one of his guards to use his gift to disable Bella, Edward and Alice’s gifts so that Alec can use his to block out the Cullens senses to make it easier for the guards to restrain them. However Lucas used his aura to block out Alec’s gift and was the only one free. Aro was impressed with Lucas’s gift along with his skills and offered him to join the Volturi to which Lucas refused. Aro then sees how Lucas look so familiar to him leading Edward to read Aro’s mind and discover the shocking truth; Aro was the one who killed Lucas’s family from the fire at their home since Lucas looks like his father Kendall. The news shocks Lucas into rage as he takes down every member of the coven that got in his way single handily until he reaches Aro where he was about to kill him for revenge until he was stopped by Carlisle and Renesmee, who caused a hallucination to Lucas to see her as his sister Lilly. Seeing the outcome of his plans stating it was a “misunderstanding,” Aro reluctantly lets the Cullens and Jacob go home with Renesmee.
The Other Half & A Reason To Smile
One year after Aro was humiliated by the Cullens, he receives a visit from a half-human half-vampire named Jonathan who is Olivia’s mate. When he asks where she is, Aro told Jonathan that Lucas killed her leaving out the part where it was unintentional causing Jonathan to go on a quest for revenge on Lucas which Aro allowed it as a way to destroy the Cullens, particularly Lucas.
Happily Ever After
Aro somehow received word that the Cullens are still alive and Lucas is now getting married to his mate Krystal Diamond who is now a vampire because of Jonathan. Aro sends Krystal a wedding gift, a diamond and sapphire bracelet with note which angers Lucas as Krystal tosses it in the trash.

Two years after the event, Aro heard about the newborn army in Washington along something to do with obtaining power from the Cullens. So Aro brought the entire coven including the wives and they all set out to Forks to see the cause of it. There, they ran into the Cullens along with the Black pack who has captured Joham who has been creating a race of hybrids using human women as tools for his experiment. Aro then sees Tiffany Stewart with her daughter Lucina Stewart and hears about how gifted they are and he eagerly offers them to join their coven only to be turned down by an angry Lucas who reminds them of what’s really going on. Lucas then scolds Aro and the Volturi about their failures of their job and the actions they’ve done. After being in silence, Aro orders Jane to use her gift on Joham as his guards destroy Joham and they all left the scene leaving Aro, once again, in humiliation.

Four years later, the Volturi were ambushed by the Romanian coven with Raymundo, Jemma and Robyn and an army of vampires with gifts. They first revealed to Marcus that Aro was the culprit that killed his wife, his own sister causing Marcus to turn on Aro and thus igniting the first between two covens where the Romanian coven won in the end. They apprehended the members of the Volturi and Aro’s gift was copied by Robyn giving it to Sulpicia before Aro was executed.
Long Live Life
Years later since the Cullens became the new Volturi, Aro along with some of the Volturi guards returned from the dead in metal form and were used to attack the Cullens while in school under the control of a half-human half-vampire hybrid named Skai who was planning to get revenge on Lucien Summers by killing his mate Luna Snow using the sword IL Mietitore Capacità where it controls gifted vampires dead and alive. However, Skai lost the battle and the sword was destroyed bringing Aro and the others back to where they were to the dead.

May, Niall and Olivia
May, Niall and Olivia were Aro's latest discoveries to the Volturi.
Aro has been interested in the siblings due to their special skills when they were humans after hearing about them. Aro met with May, Niall and Olivia offering positions to join the Volturi which they accept and Aro turned them into vampires thus enhancing their abilities. He has helped them learn how to use their new power and they became very loyal to him since.
After they became vampires, Aro uses the siblings in his plan to have Renesmee and eliminate the Cullens. He sent May and Niall to kidnap Renesmee and later assassinate the Cullens while Olivia hypnotizes Renesmee into making her believe she wanted to join the Volturi. However, the Cullens arrived and Aro is shocked to hear that May and Niall were destroyed by them and witnessed Olivia killed by Lucas to free Renesmee from her control showing his close fondness to his new members at how sad he was.
